The
vision of DJHS is to enhance the students’ educational experiences using
varied methods and to promote wellness, enabling students to lead productive
lives in a changing and complex society.
We believe the following:
Each student is a valued
individual with unique physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs.
-
Student
learning is the chief priority of the school.
-
All students
can learn.
-
The
commitment to continuous improvement is imperative if DJHS is going to
enable students to become confident, self-directed, lifelong learners.
-
Teachers,
administrators, parents, and the community share the responsibility for
advancing the school’s beliefs.
-
A student’s
self-esteem is enhanced by positive relationships and mutual respect among
and between students and staff.
-
A safe and
physically comfortable environment promotes student learning.
-
Students
learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process.
-
Students
learn in different ways and should be provided with a variety of
instructional approaches to support their learning.
-
Students’
learning needs should be the primary focus of all decisions impacting the
work of DJHS.
