CLASS RULES & PROCEDURES

Welcome!! Listed below are the class rules, requirements and expectations for the new school year. Please read them carefully. This sheet is a requirement for your notebook.

 

Classroom Rules-                                 Be SMART

 Seated, Mature, Attentive, Respectful, Timely

1. Be respectful of others and their property.

2. Be punctual.

3. Bring materials and assignments to class.

4. Bring a positive attitude and an open mind to class.

5. Be honest.

*In addition to the above rules, all students are expected to follow the rules and guidelines as stated in the student handbook.

 

Consequences-             If you choose to break a rule:

                                    1st Time: Oral Warning

                                    2ndTime: Name taken for detention and discipline slip                                                                                             sent home for parents to sign.

Severe Disruption: Student sent immediately to office

 

Hall Pass Policy

1.      Students are asked to limit the need to leave the room during the class period; it interrupts the class and the teacher.

2.      All students will have 3 hall pass requests each 9 Weeks. These must be used any time a student wishes to leave the room for any reason except in the case of an emergency.

3.      It is always the teacher’s option on permission to leave the room.

 

Supplies

·        Three-ring notebook (No spiral notebooks)

·        Loose-leaf notebook paper

·        Pencils (If mechanical pencils are used, students are expected to keep a

      personal supplies of replacement lead with them in class.)

·        Black ink pens

           

History Notebook

Students are required to keep a notebook.

·        The notebook will contain class work, homework, handouts, notes, grade sheet, etc.

·        Students are required to keep a table of contents.

·        Each assignment is to be titled and numbered.

·        Each assignment must also contain the following information: Name (first and last), Class  

      period, Date and Assignment title. Any missing information will result in a point deduction.

 

 

 

Homework

Failure to bring homework will result in a 0.

 

Make-up Work

·        When a student is absent, it is their responsibility to find out what they missed. An

assignment calendar is located in the room and list daily activities and assignments. The assignments are also listed on my classroom webpage.  The calendar and webpage should be consulted to find out about any missed assignments.

·        It is also the student’s responsibility to provide the office with an excuse when they return to 

      school. Suspensions will result in a point subtracted from the class average  

      for every day missed.

·        The student is to set up a time to make-up any missed work. Failure to show up on agreed upon make-up

      times will result in a zero.

·        Tests may be made up only during the following times: 7:45 until 8:17 (M-F) or 3:10 until 4:00 (M-Th)

·        All class work and tests missed due to an absence must be made up

      within 5 days after the student returns to school. (see student handbook)

 

Grading

·        Grades will come from a combination of daily work (homework, class work, quizzes), individual and group projects, as well as major tests.

·        Grade sheets must be filled out and placed in your history notebook (you will receive a grade for this).

 

If at any time you need additional help, please feel free to come by room 26 before or after school. I look forward to a great school year!
